On Sunday, in the morning, at Government House, the Honourable Chief Justice Catherine Holmes, Acting Governor of Queensland, received the Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk, Premier of Queensland, and then signed a Proclamation to dissolve Parliament.
Following, at Government House, the Acting Governor presided at a special meeting of the Executive Council, and then issued the Writ causing the general election of 93 Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland to be held on 25 November 2017.
In the afternoon, in Israel, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC received a briefing from the Australian Ambassador to Israel on the bilateral relationship.
Also in the afternoon, at St John’s Anglican Cathedral in Brisbane, the Governor was represented by Honorary Aide-de-Camp, Lieutenant Gail Rogers, Royal Australian Navy, at the 80th annual Seafarers Day Service of Worship and Wreath Laying Commemoration.
