Australian Sports Medal Presentations
Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland, will present Australian Sports Medals to Queensland Team Members who represented Australia at the Special Olympics World Games 2019 and the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The Australian Sports Medal was awarded in 2000, the year of the Sydney Olympic and Paralympic games, to those who contributed to Australia's sporting excellence in 2000. The medal recognises the efforts of a range of Australians, including former competitors, coaches, sports scientists, office holders and those who maintained sporting facilities and services. Following changes made on 4 December 2020, it is awarded to commemorate Australian sporting participation in multi-sports events.
