Popular Christmas Lights return to Government House
Free family friendly Christmas Lights display - 9 to 15 December 2022
Christmas Lights are back on at Queensland's Government House with a spectacular display that is open to the public nightly from 7pm-8pm on December 9-15, 2022.
The landmark historic house and gardens of the Fernberg Estate will be once again lit up in a magical light show that has become a must-see for Brisbane families at Christmas time.
Aside from the popular polar animals peeking out from the gardens, this year’s display evokes a very Bush Christmas theme, with emus, wombats and kangaroos roaming the lawns, and even a huntsman spider!
Visitors are also welcome inside Government House to have a photo alongside the grandly decorated Christmas Tree.
Entry is free. Tickets and pre-bookings are not required.
Simply turn up and enjoy the festive display!
Key information:
- Entry is free via the gates at 168 Fernberg Road, Paddington
- No requirement for tickets or pre-bookings
- Parking is on the streets surrounding the estate (there is no on-site parking, however Security will assist with drop-offs for guests with mobility issues)

Fernberg has been the official residence of the Governor of Queensland since 1910.
Each year, thousands pour through the gates to enjoy the bright and colourful Government House Christmas Lights display, which is widely regarded as one of Brisbane’s best.
