Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla
The Coronation of Their Majesties The King and The Queen took place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, 6th May 2023, in the first Coronation Service in almost 70 years.
As The King's representative in our State, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM attended this historic occassion on behalf of all Queenslanders.
A keen promoter of all things Queensland, Her Excellency wore a two-piece suit designed by Brisbane-based designer Pia Du Pradal, paired with a hat from local milliner, Meerkat Millinery.
Their Majesties arrived at Westminster Abbey in procession from Buckingham Palace, known as ‘The King’s Procession’.
Following the Coronation Service, Their Majesties returned to Buckingham Palace in a larger ceremonial procession, known as ‘The Coronation Procession’, which also included other working members of the Royal Family.
Upon returning, The King and The Queen received a Royal Salute in the Garden of Buckingham Palace from the Armed Forces taking part in the Processions, including 40 members of Australia’s Federation Guard, representing the Army, Navy and Air Force.
In a long standing tradition, our newly crowned King and Queen then appeared on the Buckingham Palace Balcony where they were accompanied by Members of the Royal Family for the Flypast.
