Governor appoints 10 Assistant Ministers

The Governor has appointed 10 Assistant Ministers to serve in the new Queensland Government and support Ministers of the State with their responsibilities as determined by the Premier.

The appointments took place at Government House and were followed with light refreshments and an opportunity to thank supporters, friends and family members.

Assistant Ministers are appointed by the Governor in Council — that is the Governor acting on the advice of Executive Council — to support Ministers with their responsibilities as determined by the Premier.

It is an important demonstration of the constitutional role Her Excellency plays to ensure the state enjoys a stable and representative Government for the benefit of all Queenslanders.

The new Assistant Ministers are listed below alongside their portfolios:

Dr Christian Rowan MP, Assistant Minister to the Premier on Matters of State and New Citizens

Mr Trevor Watts MP, Assistant Minister to the Premier for Cabinet and South West Queensland

The Honourable Amanda Stoker MP, Assistant Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training

Mr Hermann Vorster MP, Assistant Minister for Multicultural Affairs and International Student Attraction

Ms Rebecca Young MP, Assistant Minister to the Deputy Premier and Assistant Minister for Planning, Housing and Better Regulation

Ms Janelle Poole MP, Assistant Minister for Community Safety, Defence Industry, Veterans and North Queensland

Mr Bryson Head MP, Assistant Minister for Regional Development, Resources and Critical Minerals
