Governor presents Australian Sports Medals
The Governor has presented the Australian Sports Medal to Queensland members of the Australian team for the 2023 Virtus Global Games during a ceremony held at Government House in Brisbane.

The Virtus Global Games is the peak multi-sporting event for athletes with an intellectual impairment. Held every four years, the event brings together the world’s best athletes with an intellectual impairment to compete across a range of sports.
The last Games were held in Vichy France in June 2023. Australia sent its largest team, with 117 athletes competing in the sports of: Athletics, Basketball, Cycling, Equestrian, Futsal, Judo, Rowing, Swimming, Table Tennis, and Tennis.
Australia finished second on the medal table behind host nation France with:
- 42 Gold
- 41 Silver
- 42 Bronze
