Governor visits Ekka to show support after Grand Parade postponement
The Governor made a special visit to the Ekka to offer her support after the disruptions caused by weather, with the People’s Day Grand Parade postponed for the first time in known history.
One of the Ekka’s most highly anticipated events was instead held on the final weekend, providing a unique opportunity for those outside of Brisbane to also join in on the fun.
They discussed the incredible efforts of organisers and volunteers to reschedule the grand parade and praised what both saw as the typical resilience of Queenslanders when faced with adversity.
The Governor also shared her highlights from several engagements at this year’s show, including a rain-soaked People’s Day when she was able to admire the many indoor displays and activities, and presenting awards to the 2024 winners of the Flower and Garden Education Competition.
She and Mr Chandler agreed EkkaNITES was a must-see, with its high-octane, action-packed program and fireworks display.
Her Excellency wished Mr Chandler and all those associated with the Ekka continued success.
