Lord Mayor of the City of London visits Government House
Government House entertained some very special guests this week.
Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo had the great honour of welcoming the 694th Lord Mayor of the City of London, The Right Honourable Alderman Nicholas Lyons and representatives of the City of London Corporation to the Fernberg Estate.
Not only did the Vice-Regal couple host a State Dinner for Alderman Lyons, but he and his group stayed in the Wilson Suite and adjoining rooms at Government House.
The dinner, and the visit, were designed to promote trade and investment and strengthen ties between Queensland and the City of London.
The dinner menu — devised by Head Chef, Paul Newsham — celebrated Queensland’s delicious fresh produce and outstanding local wines.
Her Excellency added at the dinner that: “Alderman Lyons enters the history books as the first Lord Mayor of London to stay at Queensland Government House, so we feel very proud that this dinner will also be adding a new chapter to the rich narrative of this special place.”
