Queenslanders among recipients of Australian Bravery Decorations

Eight courageous Queenslanders have been named as recipients of Australian Bravery Decorations, announced by the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) on 16 August.
Australian Bravery Decorations recognise acts of bravery where people selflessly put themselves in jeopardy to protect the lives or property of others.
On behalf of Queenslanders, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland, congratulates and thanks the following recipients for their courage and selfless sacrifice:
Bravery Medal
The Late Mrs Ellen Francis Cartwright, Torrington Qld 4350
Mrs Ellen Cartwright displayed considerable bravery during the attempted rescue of people from a burning house in Windorah, Queensland on 2 December 1960.
Mr Shane Paul Williams, Beerburrum Qld 4517
Mr Shane Williams displayed considerable bravery during the rescue of a person from a burning house in Beerburrum, Queensland on 18 March 2020.
