Royal Assent granted to Appropriation Bills
On Friday 25 November, Her Excellency received the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Honourable Mr Curtis Pitt MP, First Clerk Assistant (Committees), Ms Bernice Watson and Sergeant-at-Arms, Mr Michael Watkin for the presentation of two Appropriation Bills, to which she granted Royal Assent.
The passing of Appropriation Bills is an important part of Westminster convention, that enables public moneys to be paid from the 'consolidated fund' to the public service, in accordance with Parliament's wishes.
The following two Appropriation Bills were today granted Assent:
Appropriation (Parliament) Bill (No. 3) 2022
A bill for an Act authorising the Treasurer to pay an amount from the consolidated fund for the Legislative Assembly and parliamentary service for the financial year starting 1 July 2021
Appropriation Bill (No. 3) 2022
A bill for an Act authorising the Treasurer to pay amounts from the consolidated fund for particular departments for the financial year starting 1 July 2021
