Trade mission to strengthen economic and bilateral ties with India
The Governor and Professor Nimmo have co-hosted an afternoon tea at Government House with Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training the Honourable Ros Bates MP ahead of their departure on a trade mission to India to reinforce important economic and bilateral ties with Queensland.
Her Excellency said the visit would serve to raise Queensland’s global profile by emphasising our amazing capabilities in key sectors—while at the same time, celebrating and reinforcing our already close relationship with India. With her itinerary to take her to New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, the Governor is very much looking forward to meeting some of the incredible individuals who are already doing so much to showcase and advance Queensland’s outstanding reputation for expertise and innovation across diverse industries.
She commented a key focus of the mission will be Hyderabad’s BioAsia 2025—regarded as the region’s premier life sciences and health-technology event— with 20 delegates representing 10 Queensland companies and research institutions set to exhibit with the support of Trade and Investment Queensland.
The Governor thanked those gathered, including Minister Bates, representatives from TIQ and the Indian community in Queensland along with members of the delegation, led by UQ’s Director of the Australian Institute for Bioengineering & Nanotechnology - AIBN, Professor Alan Rowan, for fostering the deep sense of cooperation and accord that is so beneficial to the connections between our two countries.
