In the morning, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC CVO completed his term as the 26th Governor of Queensland and, with Mrs Kaye de Jersey, departed Government House, following a formal Farewell Parade, attended by the Deputy Premier of Queensland, the Honourable Steven Miles MP; Chief Justice of Queensland, the Honourable Chief Justice Catherine Holmes AC; the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Honourable Curtis Pitt MP; the Leader of the Opposition, Mr David Crisafulli MP; Representing the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Councillor Steven Toomey; President of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal; the Honourable David Thomas; Commander 1st Division and Deployable Joint Force Headquarters, Australian Army, Major General Jake Ellwood DSC AM; Commander, Headquarters Combat Support Group, Royal Australian Air Force, Air Commodore Veronica Tyler; Commander, Navy Headquarters South Queensland, Captain Phillipa Hay CSC and Bar RAN; Queensland Police Service Commissioner Katarina Carroll APM; Director-General, Department of Premier and Cabinet, Mrs Rachel Hunter; Official Secretary, Office of the Governor, Mrs Kate Hastings, Deputy Official Secretary, Ms Yolande Yorke, other staff and former staff of the Office of the Governor, Honorary ADC’s, where His Excellency received the Royal Salute and, accompanied by Guard Commander, Major Gabrielle Taylor and Band Major Rachael Beeton, inspected a military Half Guard of soldiers from 6th Brigade, Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera, Navy personnel from HMAS Moreton and Air Force personnel from the RAAF Base, Amberley, the Australian Army Band, Brisbane, then, following the lowering of the Governor’s Standard, was presented with the Standard by the Deputy Premier, before bidding farewell to official Guests, other guests and OOG staff and former staff and departing Government House under police escort, to a musical farewell by Pipe Major Pat Murphy, Queensland Police Pipes and Drums.
In the afternoon, at Parliament House, Brisbane, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young PSM was sworn in as the 27th Governor of Queensland.
In the evening, at Government House, Her Excellency and Professor Graeme Nimmo RDF hosted a reception to celebrate the occasion of her swearing-in.
