On Friday, in the afternoon, at Government House, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM received the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Honourable Curtis Pitt MP; Clerk of the Parliament, Mr Neil Laurie and Sergeant-at-Arms, Mr Michael Watkin for the presentation of three Bills for Assent: a Bill for an Act authorising the Treasurer to pay amounts from the consolidated fund for the Legislative Assembly and parliamentary service for the financial years starting 1 July 2023 and 1 July 2024; a Bill for an Act authorising the Treasurer to pay amounts from the consolidated fund for departments for the financial years starting 1 July 2022, 1 July 2023 and 1 July 2024; a Bill for an Act to amend the Child Protection (Offender Reporting and Offender Prohibition Order) Act 2004, the Child Protection (Offender Reporting and Offender Prohibition Order) Regulation 2015, the Mental Health Act 2016, the Mineral Resources Act 1989, the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000, the Police Powers and Responsibilities Regulation 2012, the Police Service Administration Act 1990, the Summary Offences Act 2005, the Supreme Court of Queensland Act 1991 and the Youth Justice Act 1992 for particular purposes.
Following, at Government House, Her Excellency received the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Honourable Curtis Pitt MP; Clerk of the Parliament, Mr Neil Laurie and Sergeant-at-Arms, Mr Michael Watkin for the presentation of the Address of Congratulations on the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla.
In the evening, at South Bank Parklands, South Brisbane, Her Excellency and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD attended the Brisbane Festival’s Opening Night, and the Governor addressed guests.
