On Monday, in the morning, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC departed Government House for official travel to Birdsville, Winton and Longreach.
In the afternoon, at Birdsville, His Excellency visited Birdsville State School, and the Governor addressed students and guests and read a book.
Following, at Wirrarri Visitor Information Centre, Birdsville, His Excellency received a briefing from Diamantina Shire Council representatives.
Following, at Birdsville, His Excellency undertook a tour of the town, and met community members.
Following, at Birdsville Hotel, Birdsville, His Excellency hosted a community afternoon tea and addressed guests.
In the evening, at Big Red Sand Dune, Simpson Desert, His Excellency received a briefing from Senior Ranger, Queensland Parks and Wildlife, Mr Don Rowlands OAM, and observed sunset.
Following, at Birdsville Hotel, Birdsville, His Excellency received, over a working dinner, Diamantina Shire Council, Mayor, Cr Rob Dare, Deputy Mayor, Cr Doug Cooms, and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Leon Love.
