On Tuesday, in the morning, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey departed Cooktown for an official visit to Aurukun.
Following, at Aurukun Shire Council Chambers, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey received a briefing from Council representatives and Family Responsibilities Commissioners.
Following, at Aurukun State School, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey met staff and students and toured classrooms.
In the afternoon, at the Aurukun – Wik and Kugu Art Centre, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey met staff and artists and toured facilities.
Following, at the Akay Koo'oila Women's Centre, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey met staff and artists and toured facilities, before returning to Cooktown.
Following, at Cook Shire Council Chambers, Cooktown, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey received a briefing from Council representatives.
In the evening, in Cooktown, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey attended the Sunset Endeavour River Cruise.
Earlier in the morning, the Honourable Chief Justice Catherine Holmes assumed duty as Deputy Governor to facilitate the signing of messages for bills in accordance with the Queensland Constitution, and then ceased duty as Deputy Governor.
