On Tuesday, in the afternoon, at Government House, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey hosted a Luncheon in honour of Commonwealth countries in the lead-up to the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Guests included: The Honourable Stirling Hinchliffe MP, Minister for Local Government, Minister for Racing and Minister for Multicultural Affairs, representing the Premier of Queensland and Minister for Trade; The Honourable Kate Jones MP, Minister for Innovation and Tourism Industry Development and Minister for the Commonwealth Games; Mr Peter Dowling AM, Honorary Consul, Consulate of the Republic of Botswana; Mrs Megan Hunt MBE, Vice Consul and Head of Consular Services, British Consulate in Queensland; Mrs Sandra Micallef, Honorary Consul, Consulate of Malta; Mr Jimmy Ovia, Acting Consul General, Consulate-General of Papua New Guinea; Mr Eric Quevauvilliers, Honorary Consul, Consulate of the Republic of Mauritius; Mrs Archana Singh, Honorary Consul, Consulate of India; Mr Anthony Swan, Honorary Consul, Consulate of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka; Mr Derek Brown, Queensland State Director, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Mr Brian Nourse, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC); and Ms Cecily Pearson OAM.
In the evening, at St Lucia, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey attended a dinner hosted by Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Brisbane, Dr Xu Jie.
