On Thursday, in the morning, at Government House, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD received High Commissioner of Canada to Australia, Her Excellency Dr Julie Sunday and Second Secretary, Ms Marilyne Lareau.
Following, Her Excellency departed Government House for Official Travel to Logan City Council to visit the Logan Disaster Coordination Centre, where she toured the facility and met with Mayor, Logan City Council, Cr Jon Raven and staff in the Crisis Management Team and Recovery Team.
Following, at the Beenleigh Community Recovery Hub, Beenleigh Event Centre, Her Excellency met with staff and community members impacted by Tropical Cyclone Alfred, before returning to Brisbane.
In the afternoon, at Parliament House, Her Excellency presided over a meeting of the Executive Council.
Following, Her Excellency departed Brisbane for Official Travel to City of Gold Coast and visited the Disaster and Emergency Management Centre, Ashmore, where she met with Mayor, City of Gold Coast, Cr Tom Tate, toured the facility and received a briefing on Tropical Cyclone Alfred disaster response and recovery efforts.
The Governor then visited Surfers Paradise Beach with Cr Tate, who provided an update on the Council works to restore eroded beaches in the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
Following, the Governor returned to Government House.
In the evening, at Queensland Performing Arts Centre, South Brisbane, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo attended Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra’s 'Camerata & Brendan Joyce: Schumann'.
