In the afternoon, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia and Mrs Kaye de Jersey departed Brisbane for an official visit to Townsville, North Queensland.

In the evening, at the Jezzine Barracks, Townsville, His Excellency the Administrator and Mrs de Jersey attended a Civic Welcome Reception hosted by the Mayor, Townsville City Council, Cr. Jenny Hill, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the celebration of Victory in the Pacific and the end of World War II. (VP70 – We remember).

Following, at the North Queensland Club, His Excellency the Administrator and Mrs de Jersey attended the Club’s 130th Anniversary Gala Dinner, where His Excellency the Administrator delivered an address.
