On Wednesday, in the morning, at Wacol Military Barracks in Richlands, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey laid a wreath at the National Servicemen's Remembrance Day Ceremony and the Governor addressed those assembled.

In the afternoon, at Parliament House, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey attended the opening of the 56th Parliament of Queensland, where the Governor received the Royal Salute from the 8th/9th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, “Brisbane’s Own” and a 19-gun salute, reviewed the Royal Guard of Honour, the Australian Army Band Brisbane and the Queensland Police Service Mounted Unit, before delivering the Governor’s speech for the opening of the first session of the 56th Parliament.
