In the morning, at The Strand, Townsville, His Excellency the Administrator, as Reviewing Officer, and Mrs de Jersey attended the VP70 - We remember Parade, and observed a fly-past.
Following, at Anzac Park, Townsville, His Excellency the Administrator and Mrs de Jersey attended the VP70 - We remember Memorial Service,where His Excellency the Administrator received a Royal Salute and laid a wreath.
In the afternoon, at the Quayside Terminal, Townsville Port Authority, His Excellency the Administrator and Mrs de Jersey attended the VP70 - We remember Luncheon for Veterans, before departing Townsville to return to Brisbane.
Following, His Excellency ceased duty as Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia and resumed duty as Governor of Queensland, and the Honourable Justice Margaret McMurdo AC ceased duty as Acting Governor.
In the evening, at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey attended a dinner to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific and the end of World War II, co-hosted by Senator the Hon. Michael Ronaldson, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Centenary of ANZAC, and Special Minister of State, and Rear Admiral Ken Doolan AO RAN (retd), National President of the Returned and Services League of Australia.
