On Friday, in the morning, at Government House, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM received via telephone conference, Mayor, Cook Shire Council, Councillor Peter Scott.   

Following, at Government House, Her Excellency received via telephone conference, Mayor, Cairns Regional Council, Councillor Terry James.   

In the afternoon, at Government House, Her Excellency officiated at a formal ceremony for the appointment and swearing-in of the Honourable Steven Miles MP, as Premier of Queensland and of the Honourable Cameron Dick MP as Deputy Premier, Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment, and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning; the Governor presided at a special meeting of the Executive Council; and then, the Governor, hosted a reception in honour of the Miles Ministry. 

In the evening, at Queensland Performing Arts Centre, South Brisbane, Her Excellency and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD attended the Opera Australia performance of ‘Wagner’s Ring Cycle – Das Rheingold’.
