In the morning, in Singapore, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey visited the Kranji Commonwealth War Cemetery, where the Governor laid a wreath and visited the graves of Queensland fallen soldiers.
Following, at the Singapore National Gallery, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey, hosted by Director, Mr Eugene Tan and Senior Curator Mr Russell Storer, were briefed on collaborations with the Gallery and the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art and toured the Gallery.
Then, at the Istana, the Governor was received by the President of Singapore, Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam and discussed Queensland-Singapore relations, particularly education, business, innovation and arts.
In the afternoon, at James Cook University (JCU), Singapore Campus, the Governor, hosted by Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Head of Singapore Campus, Dr Dale Anderson, and Associate Director, Government Relations and Strategic Communications, Mr Suhaimy Hassan, was briefed on JCU Singapore operations, toured the campus and met with JCU staff.
In the evening, at the Australian High Commissioner’s residence, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey, as guests of honour, attended a reception, for alumni of Queensland universities, hosted by His Excellency Mr Philip Green OAM.
