On Friday, in the morning, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM returned to Brisbane from official travel to Townsville City Council.
In the afternoon, at The Pavilions at Allan Border Field, Albion, Her Excellency attended Meals on Wheels Crosby Park’s 50th Anniversary, and the Governor addressed guests.
Following, at Government House, Her Excellency received the Clerk of the Parliament, Mr Neil Laurie, for the presentation of four Bills for Assent: a Bill for An Act to provide for the monitoring of places of detention under the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, and to amend this Act, the Corrective Services Act 2006 and the Youth Justice Act 1992 for related purposes; a Bill for an Act to amend the Corrective Services Act 2006, the Corrective Services Regulation 2017, the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000, the Youth Justice Act 1992 and the legislation mentioned in schedule 1 for particular purposes; a Bill for an Act to amend the Environmental Protection Act 1994, the Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011 and the legislation mentioned in schedule 1 for particular purposes; a Bill for an Act to amend the Forestry Act 1959, the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000, the Recreation Areas Management Act 2006 and the Tobacco and Other Smoking Products Act 1998 for particular purposes.
In the evening, at Queensland Performing Arts Centre, South Brisbane, Her Excellency and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD attended a Reception for the 77th Anniversary of the Italian Republic Foundation, and the Governor addressed guests.
