On Friday, in the morning, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey departed Brisbane for an official visit to Stanthorpe.
Following, in Stanthorpe, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey visited the Stanthorpe State School, where the Governor addressed the students and teachers at Parade and presented certificates.
In the afternoon, at the Southern Downs Regional Council Chambers, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey received a briefing from the Mayor and Councillors.
Following, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey visited the Queensland College of Wine Tourism, where the Governor met the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Southern Queensland, Professor Geraldine Mackenzie, the College’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Peter O’Reilly and the Deputy Principal of Stanthorpe State School, Mrs Kath Wenban, then toured the facility and met with staff and students.
Following, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey visited Ridgemill Estate, hosted by Mr Martin Cooper and Ms Michelle Feehan, and toured winemaking operations, accompanied by Chief Winemaker, Mr Peter McGlashan, and Assistant Winemaker, Mr Jacob Veness.
In the evening, at the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey attended the Apple and Grape Harvest Festival Young Ambassador Cocktail Reception.
Following, at the Stanthorpe Civic Centre, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey attended the Apple and Grape Harvest Festival Gala Ball, where the Governor addressed guests.
