On Friday, in the morning, at Longreach, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC visited Fernhurst, the property of Mr Tim Rayner and Mrs Sandy Rayner, and the Governor inspected drought relief infrastructure.
Following, at Longreach, His Excellency attended the unveiling of The Drovers public art, and the Governor unveiled a plaque, and addressed guests.
Following, at Longreach, His Excellency undertook a walking tour of Eagle Street, and the Governor called on local business owners.
Following, at Longreach, His Excellency visited Longreach State School, and the Governor unveiled a plaque and planted a tree to commemorate the school’s 125th anniversary, and addressed students and guests.
Following, at the ABC Western Queensland studios, Longreach, His Excellency undertook a media interview with presenter Russell Varley.
In the afternoon, at the Longreach Motor Inn, Longreach, His Excellency received a briefing from Longreach Regional Council representatives.
Following, at the Longreach Motor Inn, Longreach, His Excellency hosted a luncheon for stakeholders involved in the drought assistance package, and the Governor addressed guests.
Following, His Excellency returned to Government House following official travel to Winton and Longreach.
In the evening, at Government House, His Excellency and Mrs Kaye de Jersey hosted a reception for Boys’ Brigade Australia, Queensland and Girls’ Brigade Australia, Queensland, and the Governor presented Queen’s Badges and Queen’s Awards, and addressed guests.
