On Friday, in the morning, at Brisbane City Hall, Brisbane City, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young PSM attended the 2022 Queensland Volunteering Awards and addressed guests and presented awards.
In the afternoon, at Ashgrove, Her Excellency participated in Meals on Wheels “Let’s Do Lunch” Program, sharing lunch with Meals on Wheels recipient Ms Bernece Kennedy, volunteer Mr Owen Ginn and Area Manager, Ms Kath Nielsen.
Following, at Government House, Her Excellency received, via video conference, Chair, Mr Tom Mosby, General Manager, Mr Darrell Harris, Artistic Director, Ms Janina Harding, Cairns Indigenous Art Fair and other CIAF staff.
Following, at Government House, Her Excellency received President, Royal Brisbane Hospitals Nurses’ Association Inc., Ms Sharon O’Toole, Director of Nursing and Midwifery Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH), Adjunct Associate Professor Andy Carter, Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Metro North Hospital and Health Service, Adjunct Professor Alanna Geary and Former Clinical Nurse, Ms Patricia (Patti) Cay.
Following, at Government House, Her Excellency received the Clerk of the Parliament, Mr Neil Laurie, for the presentation of the Child Protection Reform and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2022, the Public Trustee (Advisory and Monitoring Board) Amendment Bill 2022, and the Police Service Administration and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2022.
In the evening, at Government House, Her Excellency and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD hosted a dinner in honour of Queenslanders recognised in the Australia Day 2022 Honours Lists, and the Governor addressed guests. Guests included: Ms Patricia Thompson AM and Ms Debbie Todd; Captain Jyra Blake-Waller CSC and Ms Laura Piplica; Mr James McClelland BM OAM and Ms Imelda Potton; Ms Jasmina Joldic PSM and Mr Emir Jandric; Mr Paul Martyn PSM and Mrs Jennifer Martyn; Mrs Dianne Cant OAM and Dr Robert Greenhill AM; Sister Rosalie Hetherington OAM and Sister Carmel Dwan; Mr Andrew Nimmo; Mrs Kate Hastings and Mr Bob Hastings APM.
