On Friday, in the morning, at the Cobb & Co Store Museum, Surat, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD attended ‘The Churches’ exhibition opening as part of the 100th Anniversary Cobb & Co Festival, and the Governor officially opened the exhibition and addressed guests.
Following, at the Surat Memorial Park, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo visited the Surat War Memorial and laid a wreath.
Following, at Surat Multipurpose Health Service, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo received a briefing on operations, toured the facility and met with staff and patients.
Following, at Surat State School, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo attended the school’s 150th celebration event, toured the school, and the Governor launched the Student Council cookbook and addressed students and teachers.
In the afternoon, at the Supreme Court of Queensland, Brisbane, Deputy Governor, the Honourable Chief Justice Helen Bowskill received the Clerk of the Parliament, Mr Neil Laurie, for the presentation of three Bills for Assent: A bill for an Act to establish the office of Queensland food farmers’ commissioner and for related purposes; A bill for an Act to establish the office of cross-border commissioner and for related purposes; A bill for an Act to establish the office of night-life economy commissioner and for related purposes.
Following, at the Supreme Court of Queensland, Brisbane, via teleconference, Deputy Governor, the Honourable Chief Justice Helen Bowskill presided at a special meeting of the Executive Council.
Following, at Timber Crate Café, Surat, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo received, Mayor, Maranoa Regional Council, Cr Wendy Taylor and Deputy Mayor, Maranoa Regional Council, Cr Cameron O’Neil for a working lunch.
Following, at the Cobb & Co Store Museum, Surat, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo attended the ‘Along the Western Run of Cobb & Co’ presentation by Ms Hazel Johnson, as part of the 100th Anniversary Cobb & Co Festival.
Following, at the Supreme Court of Queensland, Brisbane, Deputy Governor, the Honourable Chief Justice Helen Bowskill received the Clerk of the Parliament, Mr Neil Laurie, for the presentation of one Bills for Assent: A bill for an Act to amend the Industrial Relations Act 2016, the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2017, the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 and the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Regulation 2014 for particular purposes.
