In the morning, in the Northern Peninsula Area (NPA), Far North Queensland, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey visited the Injinoo Junior Campus of the Northern Peninsula Area State College, where the Governor and Mrs de Jersey met with staff and students and were provided a tour of the campus.
Following, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey toured the NPA, visiting local facilities, including the Hospital and Farm, viewed new infrastructure, and received a briefing by the Mayor, NPA Regional Council, Cr. Bernard Charlie, and Deputy Mayor, Cr. Edward Newman, then departed NPA for the Torres Strait.
Following, in the Torres Strait, on Horn Island, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey were welcomed by the Mayor, Torres Shire Council (TSC), Mayor, Cr. Napau Pedro Stephen, and Traditional Owner, Elder Joseph Wasaga Kaurareg before being hosted on a tour of the Horn Island War Museum and World War II site at King Point, then travelled by ferry to Thursday Island.
On arrival on Thursday Island, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey visited the Tagai State College, where they met with staff and students before being provided a tour of the campus.
Following, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey were provided a briefing and hosted on a tour of Thursday Island including the Green Hill Fort and Museum, by Mayor Stephen and Council staff.
In the evening, at the Grand Hotel, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey were hosted at dinner by Mayor Stephen.
