In the morning, at Barellan Point, Ipswich, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC attended a ceremony to dedicate the Barellan Point Landing Ground Memorial Cairn, as Patron of the No. 23 Squadron Association (Qld) RAAF, addressed guests and unveiled a commemorative plaque.

In the afternoon, at the North Ipswich Park, the Governor attended a ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the David Trumpy Bridge, where the Governor addressed guests and unveiled a plaque, accompanied by Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale.

In the evening, at St John’s Cathedral, Ann Street, the Governor attended the Synod Week Eucharist Service at which Archbishop Aspinall read a message from the Governor: The Governor has asked me to say, on his behalf, how pleased he is to be here tonight on this occasion of such significance to the Diocese. The Governor – our Chancellor Emeritus, has asked me to confirm his great respect and support for the ministry of the clergy and laity, and that he acknowledges its immense potential for good. He offers his very best wishes for our forthcoming Synod.
Also in the evening, at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Mrs Kaye de Jersey and Mrs Carolyn Jaremczuk attended the opening night performance of Queensland Ballet’s Peter Pan, and then attended the post-performance reception at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
