In the morning, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, departed Brisbane for an official visit to Yeppoon and Rockhampton, Central Queensland.
Following, in Yeppoon, the Governor met Mayor, Livingstone Shire Council, Councillor Bill Ludwig, Council staff and Disaster Management Group representatives, and received a briefing on the relief and recovery effort in Yeppoon. Then, accompanied by the Mayor, the Governor toured the Yeppoon area to view the impact of Tropical Cyclone (TC) Marcia, visiting the local Community Recovery Hub, meeting local residents affected by the cyclone, and thanking emergency services workers and volunteers involved in relief and clean-up efforts.
In the afternoon, in Rockhampton, the Governor met Mayor, Rockhampton Regional Council, Councillor Margaret Strelow, other Council staff and Disaster Management Group representatives, and received a briefing on the impact of TC Marcia in the Rockhampton region during a visit to the Local Disaster Co-ordination Centre. Then, accompanied by Mayor Strelow, the Governor toured Rockhampton, visiting areas including the Nerimbera Soccer Club and Rigarlsford Park, met local residents affected by TC Marcia, and thanked emergency services workers and volunteers involved in relief and clean-up efforts, before returning to Brisbane.
In the evening, at the Greek Club, the Governor attended the dedication, unveiling and renaming of ECCQ House in honour of the late Mr Nick Xynias AO BEM, where the Governor addressed guests and unveiled a painting.
