On Thursday, in the morning at Government House, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM greeted students from Tafe Queensland visiting for a guided tour of the House and gardens.
Following, in the afternoon, at Parliament House, Brisbane Her Excellency and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD attended the opening of the 58th Parliament of Queensland, where the Governor received the Royal Salute from the Tri-Service Honour Guard and a 19-gun salute; reviewed the Tri-Service Honour Guard, the Australian Army Band Brisbane and the Queensland Police Service Mounted Unit; and then delivered the Governor’s Speech for the opening of the first session of the 58th Parliament.
In the evening, at Government House, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo hosted a dinner in support of Queensland Leaders and the Governor addressed guests. Guests included: Brigadier Giles Cornelia DSM CSM; Air Commodore Robert Graham; Commander Rosemarie Apikotoa RAN; His Grace the Most Reverend Mark Coleridge; His Grace the Most Reverend Jeremy Greaves and Mrs Josie Greaves; Reverend Bruce Moore and Mrs Cathy Moore; Mr Peter Dowling AM and Mrs Lynda Dowling; Commissioner Stephen Gollschewski APM and Mrs Rebecca Gollschewski; Deputy Commissioner Dee Taylor-Dutton ASM and Mr Jason Dutton; Commissioner Paul Stewart APM and Ms Maria Bennett; Mr Pat Vidgen PSM and Dr Helen Vidgen; Mr Scott Allen; and Ms Tahnee Odorico.
