On Friday, in the morning, at Government House, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young PSM received the Premier of Queensland and Minister for the Olympics, the Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk MP; Commissioner, Queensland Police Service, Commissioner Katarina Carroll APM; and Director General, Department of The Premier And Cabinet, Mrs Rachel Hunter PSM.
Following, at Government House, Her Excellency and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD hosted a morning tea for Spinal Life in support of International Day of People with Disability, and the Governor addressed guests.
Following, at Government House, Her Excellency received the Clerk of the Parliament, Mr Neil Laurie, for the presentation of of Police Powers and Responsibilities and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2021 – A bill for An Act to amend the Child Protection (Offender Reporting and Offender Prohibition Order) Act 2004, the Corrective Services Act 2006, the Corrective Services and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2020, the Corrective Services (COVID-19 Emergency Response) Regulation 2020, the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000, the Police Powers and Responsibilities Regulation 2012, the Police Service Administration Act 1990, the Terrorism (Preventative Detention) Act 2005 and the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 for particular purposes.
In the afternoon, at Government House, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo hosted an afternoon tea for Autism Queensland in support of International Day of People with Disability, and the Governor addressed guests and presented awards.
In the evening, at Gallery of Modern Art, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo attended the official opening of the 10th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art.
