On Friday, in the morning, at the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club (QCYC), Shorncliffe, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey visited the QCYC Marina, to board the MV South Pacific II, and officiated at the start of the 70th Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.

In the afternoon, at Government House, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey hosted a community celebration for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Baton Relay and the Governor handed over the Queen’s Baton to Mr Kieren Perkins OAM.
