On Sunday, in the morning, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs de Jersey attended morning Eucharist at St Andrew’s Anglican Church, Longreach, then departed for Ilfracombe.
Following, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey inspected the Machinery Mile Walk to view static displays, and then, at the Martin Forrest Building, Ilfracombe, attended a community morning tea where His Excellency addressed guests.
Following, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey visited the Wellshot Centre and toured operations, and then visited the Ilfracombe Clay Target Club before returning to Longreach.
In the afternoon, the Governor visited the Longreach Markets and viewed the street parade.
In the evening, the Governor, with Mrs de Jersey, officially opened the Longreach Railway Station and addressed guests and unveiled a plaque on the occasion of the Station’s 100th birthday, and then the Governor attended a centenary dinner on the Station platform.
