On Wednesday, in the morning, at the Franco-Australian Museum and Victoria School, Villers-Bretonneux (Somme), Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD toured the Museum and School and received a briefing on the battles of 1918.
Following, at Government House, members of Bluecare Mt Gravatt visited for a guided tour of the House and gardens.
Following, at the Sir John Monash Centre and Australian National Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux (Somme), Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo toured the Centre and Memorial and met with staff.
In the afternoon, at Lochnagar Crater, Ovillers-la-Boisselle, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo visited the Red Baron’s crash site and received a briefing on the Battle of the Somme.
Following, at Pozières, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo visited the 1st Division memorial, remnants of the Gibraltar Bunker and the windmill site.
Following, at Newfoundland Memorial Park, Beaumont-Hamel, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo toured the Memorial Park and received a briefing on the frontline trenches.
Following, at Thiepval Monument, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo visited the Monument and paid their respects to the British and South African soldiers missing before March 1918.
Following, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo departed Thiepval, France for Official Travel to Amiens, France.
