4 May
In the morning, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, issued the following message: As Governor on behalf of all Queenslanders, along with Kaye, I offer our deepest sympathies to everyone affected by last week’s storm and rain. Our thoughts are firmly with the families of those who have tragically lost their lives, and those whose homes and businesses have been damaged or destroyed. Know that your fellow Queenslanders empathise with you and your predicament. We also thank the enormous emergency services and volunteer effort currently underway.
The Governor also sent a letter of congratulations to Her Majesty The Queen following the birth of Her Royal Highness the Princess of Cambridge, on Saturday, 2 May: Your Majesty, My wife Kaye and I, and all Queenslanders, are delighted by the safe, healthy arrival of Your Majesty’s great granddaughter. We extend our warmest congratulations to The Duke, Duchess and Prince of Cambridge on this joyous occasion, and hope there will be an opportunity to welcome Their Royal Highnesses, including Your Majesty’s great granddaughter, once again to our State of Queensland.
