On Saturday, in the morning, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey departed Brussels for a tour of key memorial sites and battlefields of Australian interest: Ploegsteert Interpretative Centre; Tyne Cot Cemetery, where the Governor laid a wreath at the Cross of Sacrifice, and then Polygon Wood, where the Governor also laid a wreath, in memory of the distinguished service of men and women from Queensland, who fought during World War I; and then viewed the Menin Gate and Ramparts.
Following, at Ieper Town Hall, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey met Federal Commissioner General for World War I commemoration, Mr Paul Breyne, and Mayor of Ieper, Mr Jan Durnez.
In the afternoon, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey departed Belgium for official travel to the United Kingdom. In the evening, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey arrived in London.
