On Wednesday, in the morning, at Roma Street Railway Station, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey joined the Chairman, Queensland Rail, Mr Michael Klug AM and 45 students of the Aboriginal and Islander Independent Community School (the Murri School) on the historic Q150 Steam Train including the Governor's Carriage, as part of Queensland Rail's 150 year anniversary celebrations. The Governor and Mrs de Jersey hosted the students as the steam train travelled from Roma Street to Yeerongpilly and return. Prior to departure the Governor addressed the students and afterwards, students performed the Gari Nina Namee dance, a traditional welcome and farewell dance for the Governor and Mrs de Jersey. Following the Governor and Mrs de Jersey attended morning tea with the students.

In the evening, at Government House, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey hosted a dinner in support of sport in Queensland. Guests included: Mr Nigel Chamier OAM; Ms Natalie Cook OAM; Mrs Tracy Stockwell OAM; Mr Mark Bloomfield and Mrs Melissa Bloomfield; Mr Kevin Brennan and Mrs Frances Brennan; Ms Sophie Devitt and Mr Daniel Celm; Mr Jim Holding; Mr Greg Redington and Mrs Chris Redington; Dr Karin Walduck and Mr Ross Walduck; Mr Neil Wharton; Ms Cecily Pearson and Mr Trevor Farrell OAM; and Captain Luke O’Brien.
