On Friday, in the morning, at The Pullman Reef Resort, Cairns, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM hosted an Investiture Ceremony for the following recipients of Australian Honours and Awards announced in the 2023 Australia Day Honours List and the 2023 King’s Birthday Honours List; Mayor Angela Toppin AM; Superintendent Rhys Newton APM; Senior Sergeant Jamie Ray Horn APM; Sergeant David William Raymond BM APM; Mr Ashley Alfred Cupitt AFSM OAM; Mr David William Clifton OAM; Ms Jennefer Jane Mclean OAM; Leading Seaman Jahaya Weazel CSM.

Following, at the Cairns Racecourse, Her Excellency and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD attended the 2023 Cairns Amateurs Carnival Ladies Race Day, and Her Excellency presented the Governor’s Cup.

In the afternoon, in Cairns, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo attended the Cairns Aquarium for a guided tour of the aquarium.

In the evening, at the Cairns Esplanade Lawns, Cairns, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo attended the 2023 Cairns Amateurs Sapphire Ball, and the Governor addressed guests.
