On Monday, in the morning, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey departed Townsville for Cairns.

In the afternoon, at the Pullman Cairns International Hotel, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey attended the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Reception, hosted by the Minister for Innovation and Tourism Industry Development and Minister for the Commonwealth Games, the Honourable Kate Jones MP and the Mayor of Cairns Regional Council, Councillor Bob Manning OAM, and the Governor addressed guests.

Following, at the Cairns Convention Centre, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey attended the New Zealand v Canada Commonwealth Games Men’s Basketball game.
