Morning Tea to Officially Open the Government House ‘Rainforest Retreat’
Thank you, Official Secretary.
The parents of the Eucharis lilies I just planted belonged to Paul’s mother, and took pride of place in our Kenmore garden prior to the move to Fernberg. Following a brief interpolation in pots at our daughter Caroline’s place, we are very glad they have come to rest in this peaceful enclave.
Like I assume many people in my position who have called Fernberg home, I have simply striven to do my best to support the people of this State. That others feel this should be acknowledged through my officially opening the ‘Rainforest Retreat’ is really quite humbling!
I am just so glad it is such an elegant space! And one which I know will be enjoyed by the estate’s many visitors, and a space, I hope, that will be conducive to some downtime from the busy schedule, for the vice-regal couple and staff alike!
And to this end, I leave you with a quote from British author C.S. Lewis: “You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.”
I very much look forward to testing this out in the ‘Rainforest Retreat’. Thank you once again to all involved.
