Barcaldine Regional Council Community Afternoon Tea

Ladies and gentlemen, it is Kaye’s and my great honour to join you here today.

As you’d know, Muttaburra is the town closest to the geographical centre of Queensland, so it is an appropriate place from which to marvel at the vast expanse which is our State!

Kaye and I have today visited Muttaburra State School, the Health Centre, we have met with the Mayor and Councillors, and we will soon visit Acacia Downs station.

We very much look forward to meeting as many people as we can during our eight day Regional Government House, based out of Longreach, including you all today.

We think Regional Government House is a worthwhile contribution from us, one that acknowledges our vital regional identity, and promotes the crucial stipulation that we Queenslanders must support each other.

Kaye and I thank your Mayor, Councillor Britten, and the Council representatives, for facilitating today’s wonderful and appropriate program of events.
