Official Visit to Mackay City Central Scout Group
Thank you Mackay City Central Scout Group, for welcoming me to your Den.
As Chief Scout, I am delighted to see that our Scouting traditions are being followed so proficiently here in Mackay.
I am told that, from Cubs through to Rovers, this Scout Group is full of energy, and engaged in the fun and excitement of Scouting.
I was a Cub Scout in the Corinda troop when I was young, and it is particularly wonderful to see the Cub Scouts full of enthusiasm as they embark on the adventure of Scouting.
As some of you may know, I am here tonight as part of Regional Government House, which is being held in Mackay for the next week.
During Regional Government House, I’ll be performing all the constitutional and ceremonial duties of the Governor that I normally undertake at Government House in Brisbane.
One of those ceremonial duties is to recognise and thank leaders in our community, to acknowledge their hard work, dedication and commitment, which makes our State a better place in which to live.
Fellow Scouts, you have outstanding leaders here in Mackay and it is my pleasure to shortly present Ms Rutherford, Mr Salty and Ms Wright with special service certificates.
I congratulate and thank them for their service to Scouting. I hope they will continue to be involved for many years to come.
There is so much to celebrate in Scouting in Mackay, and much of that is down to the enthusiasm and leadership of your Group Leader, Greg Milne.
I am looking forward to meeting you all and hearing about all the wonderful adventures undertaken by Scouts in Mackay. Thank you.
