Breakfast with the Premier in Support of Regional Queensland Mayors
Thank you, Premier, Mayors, ladies and gentlemen. We are truly honoured, Premier, by your presence here this morning.
Kaye and I are so pleased to have hosted the Mayors, and their partners as overnight and dinner guests, representing such vast areas of Queensland; as far West as the Barcoo region - in the heart of Channel Country, to Mareeba Shire - on the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland, and down to Hinchinbrook, Burdekin, Bundaberg, and the iconic Sunshine Coast, with so many inspiring and uplifting towns in between.
Each one of these communities provides a wonderful facet to our State.
I must also recognise, in their absence, the Mayors who joined us last night, but are unable to be with us this morning, Western Downs, Whitsunday, Noosa Shire and Ipswich – it was truly inspirational to have representation from so many areas of Queensland in one room, collaborating and sharing stories from their own regions.
This morning Kaye and I also recognise, Premier, your own considerable dedication to the people of our regions, so evident through the coronavirus pandemic, in particular to bolster Tourism in the regions.
As many of you will know, Fernberg proudly serves Queensland produce sourced from suppliers across the State, including the menu from the dinner, and the breakfast we are about to enjoy; and Kaye and I have also been lucky enough to sample some remarkable local produce from our travels to your regions!
With the experience now of almost seven years as Governor, I express my personal gratitude for all you do in Regional Queensland. Thank you all once again.
