Official Opening of the Community Lifestyles Agency Building
Mayor, Councillor Seymour; President of the Community Lifestyles Agency Board of Management, Mr Tom Hagan and CEO, Ms Julie Devling; all staff and supporters of this important community organsiation.
I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands around Maryborough, and pay my respects to Elders, past, present and emerging. I further thank Michael for his Welcome to Country today.
Graeme and I are delighted to be in Maryborough.
We are doubly delighted that our programme could include a visit to Community Lifestyles Agency.
When sworn-in as Governor, I made pledge to be a Governor for all of Queensland – a pledge which includes visiting and supporting organisations which enhance the well-being of the people of Queensland all over the state.
This is why I am so proud to be here today.
The opening of a new building is an important occasion for any organsiation.
It signals growth and progress, and reminds us all of the importance, to individual and community health, of putting down roots.
This is especially true for community organsiations like Community Lifestyles Agency, which seek to create welcoming spaces where members of the community, their families and expanding staff can come together to forge new connections.
I thank and congratulate the Board of Management for their foresight in purchasing this building in the CBD precinct – it represents a significant investment in the future of Maryborough – and Council for providing a grant to improve the building’s signage and amenity.
I hope you all look back with pride on today’s celebrations.
I have every confidence these new premises will enable Community Lifestyles Agency to build on its impressive three-decades long heritage of service to this very special community.
I now have the great honour of cutting a ceremonial ribbon, to officially open the new Community Lifestyles Agency building in Maryborough.
Thank you for welcoming Graeme and me so warmly, and we look forward to meeting you over morning tea.
