Official Visit to LifeFlight Australia
One of my proudest achievements, in my former career, was working with LifeFlight and the Royal Flying Doctor Service to establish a world-class aeromedical retrieval service for all Queenslanders.
Although I started a new chapter as Governor on Monday, I made a pledge in my swearing-in speech to be a Governor for all of Queensland, and to do my best to acknowledge and support healthcare workers and emergency services personnel.
I am, therefore, delighted to be here today, to recognise an organisation which means so much to the people of Queensland, and which means so much to me personally.
As some of you may already be aware, there is an additional purpose to my visit.
I wanted to come here and tell you all, in person, how delighted I am to accept the invitation to become LifeFlight Australia’s inaugural Patron – the very first Patronage acceptance of my governorship.
This is a deeply personal honour, and I assure you I will take my responsibilities as Patron extremely seriously.
I very much look forward to providing ongoing support and advocacy for the vital work you all do, in saving lives and supporting Queenslanders.
I further look forward to speaking to many of you throughout the course of the morning, to viewing aircraft and to learning more about the First Minutes Matter community trauma training program.
Thank you all for your contributions to the wellbeing of Queenslanders. You have all earned my enduring admiration and respect.
It is now my great honour to present this certificate of Patronage to the Chair, in recognition of today’s historic occasion.
