Pride in Queensland Dinner

Welcome all, Graeme and I are so pleased you could join us at Government House this evening for this special “Pride in Queensland” Dinner.

I begin by acknowledging the original custodians of the lands of Brisbane, the Turrbal and Jagera people, extend respectful greetings to their Elders, past, present and emerging.

This is our chance to acknowledge and thank each of you—and the organisations and companies you represent—for contributing to the success and vitality of our State, and for striving to improve the lives of the people you serve.

Your efforts demonstrate the immense dynamism and innovation that define our arts and film, fashion and jewellery design, tourism, entertainment and entrepreneurial sectors.

Diverse though your areas may be, they each have the power to generate incredible optimism, to encourage inclusivity and respect, and to build stronger connections right across our State—from our cities to our smallest, most remote communities.

You truly are our “go-getters”—you promote the best of Queensland by showcasing and supporting our State’s diverse talents and capabilities, and by fostering our rising stars.

As a result, Queensland has gained an outstanding reputation—locally and internationally—for producing quality outcomes across so many areas, through progressiveness, creativity and exceptional problem solving.

These strengths will be so beneficial to Brisbane and Queensland, as we look towards the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the world’s attention upon us continues to grow.

I believe it is really important to acknowledge how much your contribution is helping all Queenslanders lead richer, healthier and happier lives—enhancing our complete wellbeing by thrilling us through inventive story-telling and showcasing our wonderful initiative and talent here in Queensland.

So, along with Graeme, and on behalf of all Queenslanders, I again express my deep gratitude, as I wholeheartedly endorse the sentiment from Advance Queensland that it really is “our time to shine!”
