Visit to Health and Wellbeing Queensland
Deputy Board Chair, Mr Stephen Ryan and board members; Chief Executive Officer, Dr Robyn Littlewood; staff and supporters. Good morning.
I begin by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of Brisbane, the Turrbal and Jagera people and pay my respects to Elders, past, present, and emerging.
I am excited to visit you here at Health and Wellbeing Queensland’s offices and to tour your headquarters. You do incredible work to support the healthy lives of Queenslanders.
As you all know, in my former life as a doctor and as Chief Health Officer, I was a strong advocate for preventative health initiatives. I continue this commitment in my role now as Governor.
When I was sworn in as Governor of Queensland, I vowed to work to improve the health of all Queenslanders. Of course, your contributions have been vital to this mission.
I think Queenslanders, too, have adopted this goal as their own. The Inaugural Government House bushwalk last week on Wednesday 6th April is testament to that, with over 150 attendees.
The partnership between the Office of the Governor team and Health and Wellbeing Queensland worked so well in delivering a successful event.
Already, our teams are preparing for the next walk, which will be called the Reconciliation Walk, and is planned for the first week of June as part of Reconciliation Week.
I am delighted to present the Deputy Board Chair and Chief Executive Officer with a Certificate of Vice-Regal Patronage, solidifying my commitment to the the vital work your organisation so proudly undertakes in the Queensland community.
Hopefully, we can collaborate on many more Government House health initiatives in the future. Thank you.
