In Conversation with the Governor-General: Part II
We invite you to listen to the second part of a conversation between the Governor and Governor-General of Australia, who visited Queensland recently to officially open the 2024 Ekka.
By tradition, our State and Commonwealth Vice-Regal representatives take turns opening the much-loved Royal Queensland Show, which draws 400,000 visitors on average each year.
Before departing Government House for Canberra, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC offered her insights on several topics, including the evolving role of Vice-Regal leaders in our modern democracy, the value of care, kindness, and respect for our people — and our institutions — and the importance of celebrating the diverse achievements that make Australia unique.
The Governor-General, during her time at the Ekka, met with primary producers, exhibitors, competitors, and visitors and remarked on the innovations taking place in our agricultural sector as well as the wonderful atmosphere at the show.
