On Wednesday, in the morning, at Government House, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, hosted at breakfast the Premier of Queensland, the Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk MP.
Following, the Governor departed Brisbane for an official visit to the Lockyer Valley and Toowoomba.
In the afternoon, at the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre, Spring Creek, His Excellency, welcomed by the Director-General, Department of Justice and Attorney-General, Mr David Mackie, and the Commissioner, Queensland Corrective Services, Mr Mark Rallings, visited the centre hosted by the Director, Southern Queensland Correctional Centre, Mr Mark Walters, where the Governor received a briefing and toured the facility viewing employment and education programs and the Assistance Dogs program.
Later in the afternoon, at the Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport, Toowoomba, His Excellency, hosted by Mr John Wagner, toured and was briefed on airport facilities and operations.
In the evening, at the Empire Theatre, Toowoomba, the Governor attended, as Guest of Honour, the Toowoomba Grammar School Annual Speech Day and Prize Giving Ceremony, where His Excellency addressed guests and presented prizes and medals to students in Years 11 and 12, before departing Toowoomba to return to Brisbane.
